Development
Bug fixes, new features, and improvements across flake-aspects, den, flake-file, import-tree, dendrix, checkmate, with-inputs, denful, and dendritic-unflake.
Hey! I’m Victor Borja from Mexico. Everything I know, I learned by reading other people’s code. I’ve been contributing to open source since 1999 — from the Rubinius VM, to the Apache Software Foundation, to asdf-vm, and now to the Nix ecosystem.
Programming is my job but also my passion — and for me, a way to contribute good things to the world. I create tools in the hope that they are useful and that others can learn from them, just as I’ve learned from others.
But open source has a cost. Creating and maintaining these libraries means spending hundreds of hours writing code, writing documentation, responding to issues, and providing community support — without expecting anything back.
I’ve been doing this since 1999 without taking a dime. But sponsorships are a way for the community to contribute back to open source. And I believe this world needs more kind actions.
Thank you for supporting my work. If you do sponsor, please mention what repo you liked the most — I’d love to know.
Peace, vic
These aren’t weekend experiments but projects with a common long term vision. Each library has CI, tests, documentation, real-world users, and active development. Maintaining this takes dedicated, sustained effort — the kind that sponsorship makes possible.
Development
Bug fixes, new features, and improvements across flake-aspects, den, flake-file, import-tree, dendrix, checkmate, with-inputs, denful, and dendritic-unflake.
Documentation
Four documentation sites maintained across the ecosystem. Guides, tutorials, and API references that need to stay current as features evolve.
Community
Answering questions on GitHub Discussions, Zulip, and Matrix. Reviewing PRs, onboarding new users, helping people migrate their Nix configurations.
Quality
100+ tests in den alone, CI via checkmate on every project, cross-platform validation (NixOS, Darwin, Home-Manager). Quality takes continuous effort.
Over the past year, this ecosystem grew from an idea to a fully working suite with 9 projects, tons of tests, documentation sites, answering and supporting people with migration to help growing real-world adoption.
With sustained funding, these are the next priorities:
dendrix growth
Build the community contribution pipeline. Create starter aspects. Grow the catalog. Make dendrix the NUR of Dendritic Nix configurations.
denful
A LazyVim-like distribution of pre-configured Dendritic setups. Battle-tested configurations for common use cases that just work.
dendrite
An interactive NixOS distribution with a CLI/UI for exploring all nix options, toggling them, and importing dendritic trees from different sources.
Broader adoption
More tutorials, blog posts, better error messages, performance improvements. The work that makes libraries trustworthy for production use.
Thank you to the current sponsors who make this work possible:
Monthly sponsorships provide predictable funding for sustained development. One-time contributions are also welcome. Every dollar helps — even small sponsorships signal that this work matters.
Not ready to sponsor financially? You can still make a difference:
